Recently, I took a trip to the library. My goal was to find new resources that could be added to my bibliotherapy tool box. What is bibliotherapy?
Bibliotherapy is the use of books to help people relate to what they are experiencing. Through stories and metaphors, it can help children take a big feeling or experience, and understand it in a simple, easy way. And sometimes, words just don’t do it. Sometimes, as adults we don’t even know what to say. So sitting down and reading a story can open the conversation and allow us to find each other, within the issue, so we can talk.
The Reston & District Library offered a huge selection of helpful books for children. Hopefully, your library has a wonderful selection too!
